Filthy Little Angels bring you Hyperbubble and The Lovely Eggs

Do you know the label, Filthy Little Angels? Well you should! I found them last xmas season on my mission to bring you the naughtiest xmas songs on the internet. They are a truly independent record label based in the UK and have a whole slew of little often unnoticed bands on their hands who are really producing some fun and good music. If you’ve enjoyed my post on Projekt A-Ko you’ve already seen a product of FLA. Well today I bring you some Hyperbubble, who are moving on to Bubblegum records. Hyperbubble still have their record  Airbrushed Alibis at Filthy Little Angels’ shop so go pick it up there while it lasts! You’ll find great tracks like “Synesthesia” on it. And over on Hyperbubble’s official site you’ll find remixes like “Synesthesia (Neuromix)” so make sure to go check them out, there’s even more available for download.

Also in stock at Flithy Little Angels, The Lovely Eggs, “I Like Birds (But I Like Other Animals Too)” which you might have heard over on The Waiting Room on WOXY.com as Drunk Country and TWoTh (The Woman of The House) have been featuring them lately. See, The Lovely Eggs have been promoting their debut album, If You Were Fruit (Cherryade Records), but before that they put out a 7″ on … you guessed it, FLA. They report, “we recently found a few copies of their previously-thought-to-be-sold-out split 7″ with The Sexual Hot Bitches under the Filthy bed.” Head over to the Filthy Little Angel’s site to pick that up, go see The Lovely Eggs live and pick up their new album as well!IYWFsmall

  • The Lovely Eggs are a bit chaotic live & nowhere near as entertaining as they are on record – but that’s purely a production issue. They’re a duo, afterall, with only 2 sets of hands & one of those is playing drums all the time.

I think, also, we all suffered from venue fatigue: too many gigs in the same place over 3 weeks gets to you afer a while, so our apathy wasn’t 100% their fault – they were energetic & threw everything into their lightning quick set (all their songs were shortened by at least half length, & I’m not sure if this is natural or induced due to a late running order) .

The sound wasn’t fabulous either, & the crowd were there, really, for Shonen Knife who, after 3 songs in to a long set, reminded me why I was never a FAN but an admirer at long distance: once you’ve heard one J-Punk/Pop song, you’ve pretty much heard them all.

Anyway, they set up stall after the gig with a suitcase crammed with handmade goodies (an egg cosie, knitted dolls of the duo, hand sewn fabric badges/pins), 7″s, EPs, & T-Shirts. I bought a T-Shirt (as well as paying for the other half of’s entry), chatted to them on & off (they’re shy, retiring, twee) & left before midnight.

I was sober, by the way, so that might have affected the mood/reaction somewhat also.

    • Well… I’ll have to report back to you in July after I’ve seen them! I do love the songs I’ve heard, I’ll say that, so my hopes are high :) And I would totally disagree with you on the J-Punk/Pop song thing, when it’s good I can listen to it for hours, it’s definitely not all the same. It is difficult for a duo, however, to keep the energy up. I had the same feeling with An Horse the first time I saw them, but they hooked me on the fifth or sixth song. So… we’ll see.
